AND THE RELEASE DATE IS…

April Fools Day! That’s April 1, 2012. The official release date of my first music video.

Guys this is highly anticipated. It’s the 1st song I’m releasing from my new upcoming album, which is currently untitled. My bangs were far too short.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT KIDS IN THE CITY THE MUSIC VIDEO:
“Only Sara Beth could bring beauty, rhythm and redemption to America’s most disgusting household critters in her new video ‘Kids in the City.’ Who knew roaches could love and have so much fun?! This could be a turning point for the entire species” -Zana Hembree
“it’s like trying to recall and retell a dream you’ve had. Most of the pieces are there but the logic gets lost and eventually the tale tends to devolve into an outrageous list of surprises. Needless to say, this is a dream I wouldn’t mind reoccurring.” -Dycee Wildman
“why do you say ‘oh’ so much?” -Henry Stephenson
“After watching this video, I felt the sudden urge to
A.) Polish my rose colored glasses.
B.) Buy a cake and punch it (while eating). And finally
C.) Remind myself that profound story telling in music doesn’t have to involve skinny jeans and smeared mascara.” Jenn Carter
“I don’t get it, but it’s really fun” -Cinci Geoghegan
“SB makes shoving a cake in her mouth look beautiful, not gluttonous at all” -Kuntal Patel
“You will be taken into a MAGICAL, tribal fairy tale” -Hailey Collier

“Kids in the City” Video!

[caption id="attachment_180" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="from the music video Kids in the City"]I spent last Saturday with my good friend and brilliant video director, Dycee Wildman (dyceewildman.com) shooting a video with lots of friends, roaches, makeup, antennas and of course, sausage mushroom onion pizza. Nashville’s illustrious Hailey Collier choreographed a 30 second dance that will make you start moving your hips. That’s right, for 45 minutes we stood in my neighborhood, opened the hatchback of my car, blasted the song (it’s the moment I actually fell in love with my bluetooth) and I screamed 1!!! 2!!!! 3!! 4!!! until it was PERFECT!!! If you are a man, you won’t be able to stop nodding your head to the beat. Some of you will roll your eyes but most of you will want to be me by the end. Stay tuned….

Holiday Cheer! put on your antler headbands.

It’s that time of year again.  Moms adorn their minivans with Rudolph red noses and wreaths (how do they get those things to stay on!), and an inch of snow sends a southern city into a frantic cancellation of schools and buyouts of bread and water at the grocery.  The mailbox has REAL SNAIL MAIL in it, Christmas cards, handwritten, with special messages and pictures.  It’s too hot inside, too cold outside, and everyone’s got a little more crust underneath their nose.  WINTER!  Gray skies, seasonal affective disorder, nighttime begins at 4, parties with lots o’ nog, mittens, Christmas trees (which I recently learned you shouldn’t leave the beautiful twinkling lights turned on all night, it might burn your house down), and there are holiday plays pretty much nightly.  And daily.  I sweated through one today.

I certainly don’t have much to do with this gloriously emotional holiday season, but I haven’t updated my website for a year and 3 months.  So here it is.  An update.  The year of 2011 is going to be an exciting one: I’ve been writing pretty much since the last CD, Tired of Singing Sad Songs, which I’m almost positive was released about 3 years ago.  So 3 years worth of songs.  That’s a lot of content, especially for someone as dramatic as I.  A few love songs, way more breakup songs, happy songs, sad songs, a couple silly ones even.  I guess the songs I have to choose from are similar to the wide range of emotion spreading over the holiday season.

I now have most of what’s considered “important media pages”: twitter (sarabethgeo), facebook (SaraBeth Geoghegan), myspace (does anyone look at this anymore? myspace.com/sarabethnet).  I don’t know that my life merits daily updates, is anyone’s life REALLY that interesting?, but I try my darndest.  So, follow me, get excited for new stuff, and thanks for reading!

much love
